The 39th National Day was celebrated in New Delhi on
18th November at the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy
premises. Light and Shadow, the leading event
management company from Oman, organised a fashion show
— Spirit of Oman — on this occasion. Shaikh Humaid Al-Maani,
Sultanate’s Ambassador to India, his wife and other
officials of the Embassy greeted the dignitaries,
which included more than 40 ambassadors of various
countries, top businessmen, Indian government
officials, journalists and people from other walks of
life. Mr. Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for
Petroleum and Natural Gas, was the chief guest of the
evening.

The former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul
Kalam visited the Sultanate of Oman in October 2009.
Ambassador Humaid Al-Maani greeted Dr. Kalam at Indira
Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi before flight
departed for Muscat. The former President attended
various events in the Sultanate including meeting
school children, whom he has great affection.

Ambassador Humaid Al-Maani met with Sri Sri Ravi
Shankar, India’s well known spiritual and humanitarian
leader. The meeting was held in November 2009.
